Sometimes it can break off, however, this regenerates and grows back eventually. Black Rhinos will fight each other over territory and females – even courting males and females sometimes fight one another.īlack Rhinos use the larger of their two horns as a weapon when fighting. Black Rhinos will attack other animals though if their territory is threatened, they also fight amongst themselves. Most of their ‘charges’ are bluffs but because they act in this way, they have been given a bad reputation as being aggressive and dangerous.īlack Rhinos do however, live in harmony with other animals generally. If it catches a smell of an unfamiliar presence, then it will instinctively charge mistaking it as a threat. They rely heavily on their strong sense of smell and well developed hearing. Black Rhinos have been known to attack trees and rocks by mistake. This is important because it allows grasses to grow which provides food for many other animals on the grassy plains.īlack Rhinos have a tendency to attack just about anything, this is because of their poor eyesight. The Black Rhinos skin harbours many external parasites, which are eaten by birds such as the ox peckers and egrets that live with the rhino.īlack Rhinos are heavy browsers that restrict woody plants from over-growing in their habitat. The Black Rhinos prehensile lip is used much like a finger to select and pick the twigs and leaves that they prefer. Black Rhinos tend to live alone, except when breeding and raising offspring.īlack rhinos have a ‘prehensile’ lip – ‘prehensile’ meaning – adapted for grasping and holding. Black Rhinos can still show considerable bouts of aggression, even though they are mainly shy and solitary animals. The Black rhino is smaller than the White rhino and is more agile in movement. These horns are used for defence, intimidation and digging up roots and breaking branches during feeding. Sometimes, a third smaller horn may develop. Previous evidence of fossilized black rhino skulls from the province was discounted when these were found to be those of a hippopotamus and a predator. The rhinos two horns on their skull are made of keratin with the larger front horn typically 50 centimetres long, some can measure up to 140 centimetres. An adult weighs from 800 to 1400 kilograms (1,760 to 3,080 pounds), some may weigh 1820 kilograms (4,000 pounds), with the females being smaller than the males. The Black Rhinos habitats are mostly bushy plains, rugged hills and scrub lands.Īn adult Black Rhinoceros stands 140 – 170 centimetres (57.9 – 63 inches) high at the shoulder and is 3.3 – 3.6 metres (10.8 – 11.8 feet) in length. Graphite and charcoal are considered safe enough to eat. Pure carbon is considered non-toxic, although inhalation of fine particles, such as soot, can damage lung tissue. The German and French words for charcoal are similar. The origin of the name "carbon" comes from the Latin word carbo, for charcoal.Other forms of carbon include fullerenes, graphene, carbon nanofoam, glassy carbon, and Q-carbon (which is magnetic and fluorescent). For example, graphite is an electrical conductor while diamond is an insulator. The forms look very different from each other and display dissimilar properties. While most elements known since ancient time only exist in one allotrope, pure carbon forms graphite, diamond, and amorphous carbon (soot). Pure carbon exists free in nature and has been known since prehistoric time.If you baked a diamond in an oven or cooked it in a frying pan, it would survive unscathed. The melting point of diamond is ~3550☌, with the sublimation point of carbon around 3800☌. Carbon has the highest melting/sublimation point of the elements. The isotope Carbon-14 is used in radiocarbon dating. In its elemental form, diamond is a gemstone and used for drilling/cutting graphite is used in pencils, as a lubricant, and to protect against rust while charcoal is used to remove toxins, tastes, and odors. When a massive star turns into a supernova, carbon scatters and can be incorporated into next-generation stars and planets. In this process, three helium nuclei fuse. Carbon is made in giant and supergiant stars via the triple-alpha process. Carbon is made in the interiors of stars, although it was not produced in the Big Bang.Elemental carbon can take the form of one of the hardest substances (diamond) or one of the softest (graphite). Because it forms more compounds than any other element, it is sometimes called the "King of the Elements."

Fill all the empty space with earth and water the seedling.īe very careful not to damage the roots. In other words, the surface of the soil in the pot and the surface of the soil in the garden should be at the same level. Place the seedling in the hole so that the stem is not covered by the soil. Gently pull the container upward and release the roots from it. Turn the container upside down while holding the seedling, roots, and soil with the other hand. Take the pot with the seedling in one hand and insert the stem of the seedling near the base between two fingers of the other hand. Fill the hole halfway with a quality nutrient substrate based on organic matter (compost). Avoid damaging the rootsīefore planting, dig a hole twice as big as the container in which the seedling is growing. During the day the plant will get used to the new environment. The best time of day is in the morning when it is fresh and humid outside. As a result, it will be very difficult for the plants to adapt to the new location. In addition, cloudy weather is usually more humid, which also has a positive effect on transplanting.Īlso, avoid transplanting in hot weather as the humidity is low and the seedlings can quickly lose moisture. For this reason, choose an overcast rather than a sunny day. In just one day, they can wilt and die or get sunburned. As a result, the plant will soak up enough water so it won’t suffer from dehydration in its new location.Īvoid transplanting in sunny and hot weatherīright sun can easily damage the delicate tissue of young tomato seedlings. But make sure that the excess water comes out through the drainage holes. Generously water the tomatoes 1-2 days before transplanting so that the soil in the container is well moistened. This way the plants can absorb all the nutrients and get a little stronger. It’s best if you water the seedlings with liquid tomato fertilizer a week before transplanting. It doesn’t matter if you are replanting tomatoes from pot to pot or from one place to another. The next thing you need to do is to feed the seedlings a little before transplanting. Feed and water the tomato before transplanting Repeat the hardening several days in a row. To do this, move the containers with seedlings outside during the day. If the seedlings are ready to be planted outside, harden them a bit. By this time, the seedling should have a few leaves and the stem should be firm.Ĭarefully take the seedling out of the container and inspect the root system, it should be healthy and well-branched. This means that they need to grow in a warm place for at least a few weeks before transplanting. The first thing you can do to make it easier for tomato seedlings to take root in their new location is to let them mature a little. After some time, new foliage of bright green color will appear. Other times, there may be only partial yellowing or browning of the leaves. The leaf petioles can also sometimes droop along with the foliage. If you do nothing, they will wither and fall off. The first symptom of transplant shock is leaf wilting. To reduce transplant shock, shade the tomato for 1-2 weeks after transplanting, don’t let the soil dry out more than 1 inch, and mulch the surface with a 1-inch thick layer of organic mulch. If it is transplanted at the wrong time, or if the roots are damaged, the tomato can get a transplant shock. Fresh vegetables grown in your garden are not only a guarantee of the quality of the harvest but also a source of pride for many people.ĭuring the growing process, tomatoes need to be replanted. On the left the speed test from Chrome Browser. Same device (Google Pixel 5), same network from Google Nest Wifi, same time. Sky WiFi Hub has all WiFi networks turned off at the moment. My provider is Sky WiFi (Italy) and I am using Sky WiFi Hub connected to Google Nest WiFi via Ethernet. If, on the other hand, I do a speedtest via browser from a device connected to the network (Google Nest WiFi) then I get to 500Mbps in download. The strangest thing, however, is that now the speedtest does not reach more than 95Mbps in download (300Mbps in upload) via the speedtest of the Google Home app. Then the disconnections started and I fixed them with the bridge mode. The first time I installed and configured Google Nest WiFi I had an amazing connection with speedtests close to 1Gbps for a few hours. I can add some details on the analyzes carried out. If I activate the NAT mode I cannot stay connected to the wifi for more than a few minutes. It seems that only bridge mode is working correctly. I've been trying to debug the problem for weeks, it's really frustrating. (could it be a load issue (but still my wife´s phone is not heavily loaded with WiFi activity when it goes down)ĪND - All these dissconnections have started after I replaced my old WiFi router to Google Nest (with to sattelite devices) I also want to add that the MacBook WiFi connection tend to drop when I´m in a MS Teams meeting. So to conclude, WiFi drops for some devices, randomly and not at the same time for all devices. I even do an internet perfrormance test and get excellent values. When any device is disconnected I go in to the Google Home app on the phone to check network status and it is always green at these occations. My wife´s Samsung Galaxy A50 however, loses WiFi connection very often and much more often than my MacBook Pro.Īt the same time as my MacBook disconnects, a Windows 10 computer still has connection. I´ve found out that when I get disconnected from WiFi on my MacBook Pro 16 I´m not disconnected on my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra - it still works fine. However, I would like to add some findings about the problem, just for your further analysis. I´m right now in the process of trying the suggested steps. I have reset the priorities and my modem is a modem alone. I have already unplugged the modem and the router and then plug the modem waiting for the internet to work and plugged in the router. The internet has still been calling on and off and I don't know what to do. I spoke to someone from Google yesterday and they troubleshooted the issue. Spectrum said that I'm probably on a channel that a lot of people are on and that's the issue. They are now claiming that it is Google that is the issue. I called Spectrum they said something was wrong with the modem and yesterday they said they fixed it. The internet remained working but the Wi-Fi would go in and out. Last week on Wednesday the Wi-Fi started going in and out. My Google nest has never had an issue until recently.
